EVENTS

The Society organises lectures, exhibitions, musical events and talks by both Brazilian and British speakers.  Talks have been given on subjects ranging from political issues to Amazon Indians.  A varied and lively social calendar includes events such as cachaça tasting, churrascos and caipirinha parties, as well as events organised by the Younger Members Committee (the BrasiLusans).

Thursday, 17th May @ 7pm - Gourmet Club in Fulham SW6
Come along and learn and taste the fabolous flavours of Brazil. We will be demonstrating how to cook "Moqueca" dish from Bahia State.
Tickets are £35 ea (very limited numbers).

Thursday, 26th April @ 6.30pm - Spring Sensation
Venue: Gallery 32, Embassy of Brazil, 32 Green Street W1
This was a sucessful event attended by over 100 guests.
Big thanks to Rodizio Rico for the delicious canapés and caipirinhas.
Big thanks also to Cordão de Ouro for their time demonstrating capoeira, amazing agility!

Monday, 2nd April @ 5pm - Guided Tour to the Houses of Parliament
Very interesting tour, so much historyluckly both of the Houses were in recess.

Friday, 10th February @ 3.00pm - Guided Tour to Supreme Court UK
The UK Supreme Court, which opened in October 2009 as a successor body to the ‘Law Lords’ (or Appellate Committee of the House of Lords).
The tour was led by an experienced member of court staff, who was able to give interesting examples of cases heard in our first two years of operation, an explanation of the constitutional significance of the court, and a history of the building. This was a great visit much appreciated by all guests.

Thursday, 19th January @ 6.30pm - New year's party
This is a joint event with the Anglo-Portuguese Society.
Very successful event at St Peter's Church Hall on Eaton Square, we would like to thank all of the guests who helped to make it such sucess.

Monday, 5th December 2011, 7.15pm - ‘A Light to the World’
Christmas Carol Service
St James’s Church (Spanish Place), 22 George Street, London W1U 3QY

(Not an ABS concert, but one we highly recommend it!)
The Anglo Latin American Foundation presents this carol service in aid of poor young children of Latin America. This annual event is always an emotive one, and very essential to help those who are most in need in Latin America.  The event will be attended by several Latin American Ambassadors and other VIPs, and various singers from Latin America and the UK will also be performing:

It was another successful party, thank all of those who attend for your support and hope you all enjoyed the evening.

Wednesday, 9th November @ 2pm - Guided Tour to St John's Gate
A very interesting visit and right in the heart of London, a hidden treasure. It was thouroughly enjoyed by all present.

Thursday, 6th October @ 7pm - Clelia Iruzun Piano Concert
Bolívar Hall of the Venezuelan Embassy
BRAVO!!!! it was a great concert.
Profit raise from this event will be sent to Centro Social da Torre, in Recife (a charity the ABS supports).

Thursday, 15th September @ 6.30pm – TalkEmpire Adrift’

Patrick Wilken gave an excellent talk, much appreciated by all present. This was a  joint event with the Anglo-Portuguese Society.

Saturday, 10th September - Garden Party
This year the party was again a great success. It took place in the beautiful gardens and house of Mr and Mrs Roger Wellesley-Smith, in Wimbledon SW19.

Thursday, 30th June - Latin American Golf Tournament
at the West Surrey Golf Club
It was a successful event and the winner of the Ambassador's Cup was Mr Rudolph Bissolotti, who is a member of the Society.

Saturday, 18th June - Westminster Abbey Musical Tour -
Historical and architectural tour combined with the music of the Purcell Club (Affiliated to the Westminster Abbey Old Choristers Association)
This is just to let you know that this event was an absolute success and well attended. We are again on the list and hopefully we will be able to offer you the opportunity again.

Friday, 3rd December - ABS Carnival Christmas Ball – The Society held its bi-annual Christmas Carnival Ball at the Hurlingham Club, SW6. To find out the raffle draw results please click on the link above. Many thanks to all who made it such a successful night.
